Take a song, time-stretch the first half of each beat and time-shrink the second half – and what you get is a remarkable swing version. Some examples:
Daft Punk’s “Around the World”
“Every breath you take” by the Police
More examples – including a link to the source code so you can do it yourself (to any song).
I found this interesting piece on what else could have been done with the money spent on the Iraq war:
“Charlie Stross is hosting an open conversation on other things we could have bought with the money wasted in Iraq: for example, we could have sent a colony of over 500 astronauts to Mars, provided modern nuclear power to the USA and shut down its coal plants, built modern cities for 600,000,000 Chinese people to live in, and so on.”

Usually I don’t really like lists of quotes, but this one is quite funny indeed:
“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.“
– George Carlin
“A house is just a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get more stuff.“
– George Carlin
“One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.“
“the music industry in 2007 — a bleak, burned-out world where the sky fell on a daily basis and the rivers ran red with the blood of record execs. (That the album didn’t sell well only furthers the analogy …)“
– according to MTV
Today I turned 30. This is bad enough already, so I decided to give myself a nice present: a blog. Woohoo, finally I got myself a blog 🙂
Everyone seems to have one already, but somehow – despite my background in technology – I never had one. I will try to write something interesting every once in a while, most likely about technology or politics.
But not today – today I’ll just celebrate my birthday. Hurray!
